Technology
HROC’s technology offers the most advanced cancer treatments and support tools available, including:
- Elekta Synergy® Linear Accelerator
- Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
- Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)
- Philips Pinnacle®Treatment Planning System
- IMPAC® Electronic Medical Records
The state-of-the-art linear accelerator for the delivery of radiation therapy for the treatment of cancer. Synergy® combines the most advanced radiation therapy techniques, such as intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), with image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) in order to treat a cancer with precision and accuracy while sparing the normal organs around the cancer. The advanced Synergy® technology means a greater chance for cure with few treatment related side effects.
VMAT technology allows even more precision when treating cancers in sensitive areas of the body. Cutting edge computer software allows the radiation oncologist to “shrink-wrap” the radiation dose around the cancer with great accuracy. As part of the Eleckta Synergy® linear accelerator, VMAT also enhances treatment delivery by decreasing the overall daily treatment time, thus making a course of radiation therapy more convenient for patients.
The Pinnacle® treatment planning system allows the radiation oncologist to customize a specific treatment plan for each individual patient. With the help of the sophisticated Pinnacle® software, the radiation oncologist views the radiation dose in 3-dimensions; thus, maximizing the cancer-killing radiation to the cancer while minimizing the radiation to other areas of the body. Pinnacle® is instrumental in maximizing the goal of cure while minimizing side effects as much as possible.
The center will operate in a paperless environment through oncology-specific software from IMPAC®. Medical records will be electronically integrated to include all medical reports, consultations, x-rays, radiation treatment records, nursing assessments and billing information. Electronic medical records will facilitate all aspects of patient care.
